The Mayhem fly past Pensacola to secure their second consecutive win, final score of 7-4. Jesse Anderson wasted no time starting the Mayhem off on the right foot scoring the game’s first goal less than three minutes after the opening puck drop. The game remained that way for a while as neither team was willing to give an inch. Seth Ensor was the one to break the scoring drought when he wired a shot over the shoulder of Trevor Martin to even up the score. The 1-1 ties didn’t last long as Dave Nippard redirected a TJ Sneath shot to reestablish Macon’s lead. The Mayhem carried a 3-1 lead into the first break thanks to Rhett Kingston’s 5th goal in three games. Pensacola managed to slow the bleeding in the 2nd as both teams settled into a back-and-forth style with big saves by each goalie. It looked like the game would remain at 3-1 until Tyler Dill converted on an incredible, individual effort goal that gave Macon its largest lead of the night. The Mayhem proved human early in the 3rd as Garrett Milan beat Martin to narrow the Macon lead to two. That lasted for all of three minutes before Tucker Scantlebury rifled home a rebound on the powerplay then Caleb Cameron scored on a short-handed, odd-man rush to push the Mayhem lead to 6-2. The Ice Flyers managed to bring it back to within two but Aaron Aragon sealed the contest with an empty net goal to send the Mayhem off with their second win in as many nights. The Mayhem will be back in the Macon Coliseum Thursday night when they host the Birmingham Bulls on Thirsty Thursday at 7:30 pm. Friday and Saturday will be Teacher’s Appreciation Night and Paw Patrol Night presented by Nickelodeon. For tickets and more information, visit maconmayhem.com.
