MACON,GA – Today the Macon Mayhem of the SPHL are proud to announce they have signed the Boyko brothers Goaltender Josh and right winger Simon.
Josh, a 26-year-old Left-handed Goaltender from Mississauga, ONT returns to the Mayhem after spending his first pro season bouncing between the ECHL and SPHL playing for Maine, Kalamazoo, Reading, and Idaho where he finished the year in the ECHL as part of their playoff run to the Kelly Cup Finals and with Peoria and Macon in the SPHL. Through 9 games in the ECHL Boyko posted a 2.97 GAA and a .901 saver percentage including a shutout with a 6-1-1 record. In the SPHL Josh posted a 2.81 GAA and a .903 save percentage going 3-2-0.
Simon, a 24-year-old right winger from Mississauga, ONT returns to Macon where he finished 2022-2023. After finishing his collegiate career at Aurora University where he posted 16 points in 13 games Boyko went on to play 5 games in the ECHL with the Norfolk Admirals and 6 games in the SPHL here in Macon where he did score his first career pro goal in the final game of the season at Fayetteville.
“We got to see the Boyko’s last year and Josh and Simon both bring a lot to the table. Simon came in late in the year and was a solid winger for us late while Josh impressed us during his short time here before going up and sticking out through the playoffs in Idaho on the way to the Finals. These two bring a lot to the table and we look forward to seeing what they bring back here this year. ” Coach Nick Niedert said about the signing.
