Over the next 8 weeks we are going to be taking a look at the players who were released on our protected list for 2023-2024. This weekly series will be a reflection of who these players are, where they have come from, and what makes us excited to bring them back to Macon. Please help us welcome back #44 Jamie Dorsey.
Dorsey, a 26-year-old from Wilbraham, MA, returned to Macon after joining the team after his collegiate career came to an end in 2021-22. In 11 games last season Dorsey put up a goal and an assist with 23 penalty minutes. His first professional goal came in his first professional game against Fayetteville on 3-12-2022.
Starting his hockey career in the United States High School Prep league at Northfield Mount Hermon School Jamie was a force in the lineup appearing in 27 games each of his first three seasons. During his third year Dorsey also played for the Springfield Rifles 18u AAA team where in 13 games he posted 2 goals and 4 assists. Returning to Northfield in 2015-16 Jamie put up 5 points in 20 games before moving on to the Springfield Jr Pics of the USPHL.
Over one year and four games in the USPHL Dorsey played 36 games with 109 penalty minutes. When it came time to attend college Jamie began his career at Elmira College in Elmira,NY. In 23 games Dorsey scored 5 points with 1 goal and 4 assists. After his sophomore year Jamie transferred to Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. The Defender played in 39 games for Manhattanville and when his time came to an end Jamie made the choice to leave Upstate New York for Macon where he played 11 games for the Mayhem.
Showing so much promise Dorsey made the protected list last summer as well and came back to play in 18 games for the Mayhem this year with two loans playing 18 games in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears and Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Jamie was an easy choice to add to the list once again and will again be a large part of the Mayhem’s defensive plans going forward.
