Returning With Mac: Jake Goldowski
Over the next 10 weeks we are going to be taking a look at the players who were released on our protected list for 2023-2024. This weekly series will be a reflection of who these players are, where they have come from, and what makes us excited to bring them back to Macon. With our third player on the roster, help us welcome back #57 Jake Goldowski.
Goldowski, a 23-year-old from Thornhurst, PA, joined Macon through a trade in January with the Evansville Thunderbolts that sent Brett Radford back the other way. Macon became aa home for the first-year pro after beginning the season in Birmingham before moving on to Roanoke and Evansville and finally making his way to the Mayhem.
Jake’s career began in his home state of Pennsylvania where he played several seasons with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights before being drafted in 2016 by the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL Priority selection draft. Goldowski played for the US National U-17 and U-18 teams over the next two seasons and joining the Spirit in 2017-18 for three seasons appearing in 167 games and scoring 80 points. Jake took his talent to the USHL and NAHL during the 2020-21 post COVID season before heading to Finland where he would join Junkkarit Hockey Team. In 26 games Goldowski posted 40 points with 15 goals and 25 assists during the regular season. During the playoffs in 10 games of qualification and 7 playoff games for JHT Jake tallied 15 points with 10 goals before deciding to come back to the US and the SPHL.
In addition to his games in the SPHL Goldowski drew the attention of the ECHL as well as the Jacksonville Icemen called him up for 16 games in which he collected 5 points with 4 goals. Jake brings a hard-working dedication to the game which is clear whenever he touches the ice and will bring a winning mentality back to Macon that made him an easy choice for Coach Niedert’s protected list!
Keep an eye out every Thursday for another look at one of our returning players!
