The Mayhem outshoot the Knoxville Ice Bears by nearly 30 but can’t get the win. Macon falls 7-3 The Mayhem had their foot on the gas early in this one as an early Caleb Cameron goal gave Macon the first lead of the game less than three minutes into the contest. Macon continued to pile on Knoxville goalie Kristian Stead but he remained solid in his crease and the Ice Bears tied the game and then retook the lead in the span of 30 seconds. Knoxville forward Bailey Conger added another for good measure as the Mayhem went into the first intermission down 3-1. Knoxville added two more goals to their total early in the second to spell the end of Cody Kaprinski’s night as he was replaced by Jeremie Forget. Once it was a four-goal game, the penalties began to litter the scoresheet. Each team was able to find the back of the net one more time before the end of a 2nd that saw 12 minor penalties in the final 10 minutes. The third period held more of the same for both teams. The Mayhem continued to shoot the lights out of the Knoxville Civic Coliseum but Stead stayed strong. Tempers began to flair, fists when flying, and multiple players from both sides were relieved of their duties. When it was all said and done, Knoxville was down 4 skaters and Macon was down 3. The Ice Bears opened the door for a Mayhem comeback with a couple of sustained 5-on-3 powerplays. Ried Yochim converted on the first but Macon was unsuccessful on the second. This left the Mayhem with three powerplay goals on 11 total chances. Once the final altercation of the night between Tucker Scantlebury and Nolan Slachetka was finished the Ice Bears tacked on one more in the final minute to close the game out at 7-3 The Mayhem will be back in action tomorrow night in the Macon Coliseum as they host the Birmingham Bulls. Tomorrow is also Mac’s Birthday and the Mayhem are celebrating by offering $5 tickets! More information and tickets are available at maconmayhem.com.
