MACON, GA – The Macon Mayhem, of the Southern Professional Hockey League, are proud to announce their first signing for the 2022-23 season. The Macon Mayhem and Tory McLean have come to terms on a training camp agreement.
Tory McLean possesses coveted size at the forward position, standing at 6’3″ and weighing 220 lbs. McLean will be entering his second season of professional hockey as he spent parts of last season with the Huntsville Havoc (SPHL), Evansville Thunderbolts (SPHL), and the Carolina Thunderbirds (FPHL). Across 45 games last season, he registered 5 goals and 4 assists. The 29 year-old native of Niagara Falls, ON is well-known for his physicality as well. His playing rights were recently selected by the brand new Mississippi Sea Wolves in the FPHL’s expansion draft.
“He’s a type of player I thought we were missing last year, a true power forward,” said Mayhem Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Zac Desjardins. “He would instantly be the biggest forward we have in comparison to last year’s squad. He’s strong on the wall and strong on the forecheck. I expect him to play a huge role in getting pucks deep and hemming the opposition into their zone. We’re not bringing him in to be just an enforcer, but he is not afraid to answer the call. Looking at his game, I think he’ll help provide a net front presence that every team is looking for. He’s a player that I think just needs a consistent opportunity to prove himself as he played well with consistent ice time in Carolina.”
McLean is the first announced signing for the Mayhem’s training camp this season. McLean and the rest of the Mayhem squad will report to camp in the middle of October looking to earn a spot on the Opening Night roster.
The Mayhem’s home opener is Friday, October 21st with the opponent yet to be determined. Season tickets and partnership opportunities are on sale now for the upcoming season; for more information on becoming a part of all the action, call the Mayhem front office at 478.803.1592.
