Macon, Ga - The Macon Mayhem are happy to welcome new athletic trainer Haley Cruz to the “478”. Cruz will be behind the bench for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.
Cruz graduated from Boise State University with a Master of Athletic Training with some quality experience under her belt. As a student, she worked with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL as well as Boise State’s football and women’s soccer teams. Following graduation, she went to Anchorage, AL working with Orthopedic Physicians Alaska servicing the Anchorage Wolverines of the NAHL. Cruz then spent some time as the head athletic trainer for the Vermilion County Bobcats before finding her way down to Macon.
Cruz replaces Cynthia West behind the bench. West, who spent the better part of three seasons with the Mayhem, parted ways with the organization earlier this week. She leaves a big role to fill as the 2021-2022 SPHL Athletic Trainer of the Year.
"We appreciate the time West spent here and all her hard work and dedication. We wish her nothing but the best moving forward," Macon Mayhem General Manager Anna Marie Summers.
Cruz will debut as the Mayhem Athletic Trainer on February 24th as the Mayhem host the Quad City Storm.
