Mayhem Drop Offensive Onslaught to the Bulls

The Mayhem score thrice on the power play but are unable to keep up with the Birmingham Bulls. Macon falls 8-5.

The first period started with back-to-back Birmingham goals scored by one of the league’s top scorers, Carson Rose. Liam Blackburn and Aaron Aragon were able to net a pair of goals but another goal from Birmingham sent the game into its first break with the Bulls up 3-2.

Pace of play ramped up in the second and the lamps were constantly lit. Jake Pappalardo scoring his second of the night was quickly followed by Carson Rose completing his hat trick, putting the Mayhem in a tough spot. After Rose’s third of the night, Josh Benson relieved Tom Aubrun of his duties in net but Rose scored yet again to make the score 6-2. David Nippard was able to exact some revenge on his former club before the end of the second period as his late power play goal cut the Macon deficit to three heading into the final frame.

The scoring didn’t stop in the third as both teams were able to convert on a pair of powerplay opportunities, leaving the Mayhem down 8-5. With around five minutes left, tempers began to flair. Carson Rose decided he hadn’t had enough of his name on the score sheet and threw a late hit that caused a brawl on the Mayhem end of the ice. When it was all said and done, seven players saw their nights come to an early end. Macon managed some quality chances late but short benches and tired legs dragged this game to its conclusion.

The Mayhem will have the rest of the weekend off before returning to the Macon Coliseum for Faith and Family Night on Friday, December 9th. Saturday brings more festivities as it’s the annual Teddy Bear Toss, find tickets and more information at maconmayhem.com.
