Macon, GA – Today the Macon Mayhem of the Southern Professional Hockey League are proud to announce that the team’s Captain Caleb Cameron has decided to end his playing career officially and move on to a post playing career with the organization. Cameron will join the team’s sales department beginning next month.
“To say it is an honour to wear the Mayhem jersey is an understatement, to have my number sent to the rafters is the biggest honour of a lifetime. I got to share the game I love with my family. A little boy from the south who loved football and baseball all of the sudden was infatuated with the game of hockey and Ginny and i couldn’t keep him away from the rink. He eat, sleeps, and breathes hockey now. Imagine that. We have shared countless memories around this game, ones that I hope he will cherish forever. I know I will.” Cameron told fans on social media.
Cameron began his pro career in Macon on his way to playing 45 games in his first season registering 20 goals and 20 assists for 40 points and helping the Mayhem to within one win of the President’s Cup finals. Over the next 5 years Cameron has played 231 SPHL games all with the Mayhem accumulating 144 total points and 324 penalty minutes on his way to becoming a fan favorite. Here in his final season Caleb has continued to make an impact on the Mayhem history books as the most games played all time, second in goals scored, third in points, and second in penalty minutes.
“Cameron and I came about the same time, and I’ve known him for a long time and he’s fiercely competitive and loves the Mayhem. It’s been a pleasure to have him around.” Dr. John Sapp said to fans as the number 10 was raised to the rafters.
