Caleb Cameron has been named the captain of the Macon Mayhem for the 2022-23 season.
The announcement was made to the locker room following practice today. Charlie, Cameron’s son, was the one to break the news to the team.
The Ontario native first arrived in Macon during the 2017-18 season where he put up 40 points in 45 games. Since then, he has put up 118 points in 194 games in a Mayhem jersey. His point total with one team currently ranks within the top 100 in the SPHL. This weekend, he passed Jake Trask to take sole control of the record for most games played with the Mayhem during regular season. Cameron has left a significant mark on the Mayhem history books finding himself second in goals scored and fifth in total points in franchise history.
Cameron was already an alternate captain for this season along with his linemate David Nippard. Forward Connor Graham has been promoted to alternate captain to fill the vacancy left by Cameron’s promotion. Graham played in the OHL with the Ottawa 67’s and at the University of Toronto before turning pro last year spending time in the ECHL and in the SPHL with Coach Niedert in Vermilion County.
